Thank you to everyone who came out to our Library Snapshot Day on Tuesday, October 25.  We took stats on how many people came to the library, how many attended a storytime session, how many used the public computers and how many reference questions were asked.
The stories, pictures and statistics we collected will be part of a library advocacy package that will be produced by Chinook Arch Regional Library.

Lorna Schultz Nicholson

17 October 2011

The visit from author Lorna Schultz Nicholson last Wednesday was great!  Lorna gave 5 presentations throughout the day (PHEW!) and each one was as fresh as the first!  She told stories about hockey (her experience as a goaltender on her son's team was hilarious!).  She read from one of her many books (Interference is the title if you'd like to keep reading it to find out what happens!) and she briefed us on her upcoming new series that goes by the name "Puckster".  Lorna also talked about characterization: how to develop characters when you are writing.  She brought with her some autographed hockey jerseys and there were quite a few students in attendance who wore their favourite jerseys as well.

A big thank you to the teachers and students for taking the time to come to the Red Brick to see Lorna.  YABS (Young Alberta Book Society) must also be thanked, for without them, author visits at the Edson Public Library would not be possible.  Thanks also to the Red Brick for accomodating the library in this venture and a special thanks to Landon, from Freezen Hot Music for helping us with the sound system!
